GRAIN MERCHANDISER: LYNN CULBERTSON

Aurora Cooperative 7 years ago

I have always been a farm girl at heart. I spent the earlier part of my childhood on a farm south of Ruskin, and then moved to a farm north of Nelson when I was 9. Our family farm was very diversified and consisted of beef, swine and row crops as part of the operation.

I’m still proud to call Nelson home where I live with my husband, Mike, of 41 years. We have been blessed with 4 children, ages 36-40, and 7 grandchildren ranging from 5 to 16. What I enjoy doing most when I’m away from the office is gardening at home or camping with my family.

Prior to joining Aurora Cooperative in September of 2000, I ran a daycare out of my home as well as work for another cooperative in accounts receivable/payables, grain and agronomy. Since joining the Aurora Cooperative I have done a variety of jobs that include scale operator, grain origination, operations manager and currently am part of the grain merchandising team at the Superior East terminal. My trade area includes Nuckolls and Thayer counties in Nebraska and Republic and Jewell counties in Kansas.

What I like the most about my career here at Aurora Cooperative is getting to talk to producers on a daily basis who have now become good friends of mine. I have always kept the mentality of being there as a friend and a partner not just their grain buyer. I do everything I can to help them be successful and profitable.

I believe in helping our owners and the cooperative work together to find solutions to better us all.
