Hey everyone, I’m Grace Pinckney and I am the Livestock Nutrition Intern at the St. Paul location, working alongside Jefferson Keller. I’m originally from Burwell, NE, and graduated high school from Burwell High School. I am going into my second year at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, majoring in Livestock Management & Production and Ag Business.
I have been very blessed to have the opportunity to intern for Aurora Cooperative and be part of this amazing team. Having grown up raising livestock, it has been a great experience to be able to learn more about the nutrition and feed side of the industry. I truly feel this internship and my background will pair well and really help me in my future careers.
During the first few weeks of my internship, I was at the St. Paul location following Jefferson around delivering feed and helping a few show families out. These last two weeks I’ve been at the Nebraska State Fairgrounds in Grand Island working the National Boer Goat show and Charolais Jr. Nationals. I have absolutely loved working on these shows, as I used to show myself and grew up in the show world.
It’s nice to be able to use the knowledge I have from the show world to interact with customers. I grew up on a cow/calf operation so also having that knowledge has helped me to better connect with customers at the St. Paul location. We are a month in, and I’ve already learned so much and I’m looking forward to what more I’ll learn.
As many have said, the sheer size Aurora Cooperative works on is just mind-blowing. The way they keep all the divisions and everything within them up and in working order is amazing. I am beyond grateful to be interning with this Cooperative and though I have a lot of time left this summer, I can’t wait to get the most out of it.
