2023 Summer Intern: Brielle Hamer

Hello everybody, my name is Brielle Hamer. I am from Central City, Nebraska, and I will be attending Central Community College in Hastings as a freshman in the fall. I grew up with agriculture around my life, but I wasn’t 100 percent into the scene myself. However, throughout the years, I have found a passion for graphic design and marketing, and I thought this internship would be the perfect opportunity to understand my family’s roots in Nebraska while learning about something I love.

This summer, I have had the amazing opportunity to intern under Tessa Burgener in the Marketing and Communications department at the main office in Aurora. I was very nervous going into the internship as I am one of only three interns who have recently graduated from high school, and we are the first group of students to experience this. I quickly realized that I had nothing to worry about. Not only have the other interns been inviting and easy to get along with, the people I have met throughout the summer have welcomed me with open arms, and the connections I’ve made with them will last a lifetime. The people at Aurora Cooperative truly are the reason the culture here and the experience I have had is so amazing.

The main things I have learned that will help me for years to come are not limited to just a career in marketing. Yes, learning about more aspects of Adobe, understanding how to morph my ideas into a business’s pre-existing theme, and learning how to film and edit simple videos will help me as I go into my future of marketing. However, this internship has allowed me to make mistakes in a learning environment that has taught me how to be professional, efficient, and thoughtful, only to name a few. Although there are a few things that I already knew, I didn’t realize how much I could still learn about them, and I’m glad I was able to further my professionalism in a place that has been in my life for as long as I can remember.
