Hello everyone, my name is Camden Holliday, I am an accounting intern based out of Aurora, NE. I will be attending Hastings College this next fall, where I am going into my freshman year. I am majoring in accounting and playing baseball as well. This is my first summer as an intern at Aurora Cooperative, but I was also apart of the internship program through Aurora High School this last spring. I grew up in Hastings and Grand Island, NE before moving to Aurora my sophomore of high school. I spent almost all my time playing sports growing up. Ever since I was a kid, I played Football, Basketball, and Baseball and carried all of those out through high school. When I wasn’t busy with sports, I spent my free time hunting or fishing with friends and family.
This summer I got the opportunity to take the driver’s seat on my own project and work with many different location managers. What I did was look up all the utilities for each location and made a spreadsheet containing water, gas, electricity, and telephone/internet bills. With the help of my mentor and others, we were able to send these spreadsheets out through FileBound to each location to get their feedback. We did this to make sure the Aurora Cooperative locations were not paying for utilities they’re not using. It was a very successful project because we got a response from each location and were able to fix anything that was wrongfully billed.
This internship experience with Aurora Cooperative has been a lot of fun, and I have enjoyed everything I have done. What makes this internship so enjoyable is the people that I work with. I know that when I walk in every day, I can have fun while also getting my work done because people here want you to succeed. I have learned a lot of what real world accounting looks like which will be very beneficial for my future. I can thank my mentor, Jeremy Burgener and Jen Moyer for all the help they’ve given me so far throughout this internship.
I am very excited to finish strong this summer and to get the most out of it that I can.
