My name is Danielle Layland. I am originally from Austin, Minnesota home of Hormel Foods. This summer, I am interning with the Animal Nutrition-Allied Nutrition Team and am based out of St. Paul, NE with Jefferson Keller. I just finished my last semester at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis and started my first semester at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Animal Science.
My family does not come from an agricultural background. My passion for agriculture started in High School through FFA and being a Steel County Dairy Ambassador. Following High School, I continued in Post Secondary Agriculture (PAS), Collegiate Livestock Judging, and Nebraska Collegiate Cattlemen’s.
A busy show and grazing season has started here in St. Paul. In the next few weeks, the Allied Team and I are getting ready for our first mobile feed store launch for the season at the Chi and Maine Junior Nationals in Grand Island from June 19th– June 24th. Helping producers get ready with creep feeders, shadowing Dr.Folmer for a day at the mill, spraying ryelage with corn syrup, and learning about all our customers with their feed, fuel or merchandise has been some of my favorite highlights so far.
I am looking forward to learning more about the feed industry and Aurora Cooperative. Have a good summer!
