EMPLOYEE HIGHLIGHT: Lea Bittner

Aurora Cooperative 3 years ago

The August Employee Highlight is LEA BITTNER, office/warehouse manager at Dale’s Flying Service.

Before working at Aurora Cooperative, what was the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever had?
My first job in high school was working for Norfolk Airport maintenance…mowing, sweeping hangers, whatever needed to be done, but the coolest part was when they had me running the dump trucks to haul dirt for the new runway/taxiways. I think a good majority of my life has been spent at the Norfolk Airport.

What do you like about Aurora Cooperative?
The people. It’s a company that genuinely cares about their employees.

What’s your proudest moment at Aurora Cooperative?
I’m always proud when growers trust me with their livelihood. Trust that their fields are mapped accurately, will get sprayed correctly and completed in a timely manner.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I have an antique radio collection and prefer vinyl records. I’m an old soul and love history.

What’s your favorite line from a movie?
“Face it girls, I’m older and I have more insurance.” -Fried Green Tomatoes

Do you have an office nickname?
I notice I get called “Miss Lea” often.

If you could meet anyone from the past, who would you want to meet and why?
Lucille Ball – Class, humor and beauty all rolled into one, what’s not to love?

What do you like to do on your days off?
Usually flying by the seat of my pants.

You’re happiest when…
cruising in the hot rod next to my main squeeze or at the drive-in theater in Neligh.

What’s your favorite holiday?
Christmas – the lights and snow are just so peaceful.
