2024 Summer Intern: Owen Harb

Agronomy Sales & Operations Intern

Hello, my name is Owen Harb. I am an intern with the agronomy team out of the Grant, Nebraska location under the mentorship of Andrew Cantrell and Casey Griffin. I am currently a second-year student at Nebraska Technical School of Agriculture in Curtis studying agronomy and ag-business.

This is my second internship with the cooperative. Last year, I worked out of the Grand Island location in the agronomy department under Jon Simonson. I was given the chance to learn a better understanding of the agronomic field. Over the summer, I was able to dive deeper into the growth and development of crops, as well as the behind the scenes of what goes on at a cooperative.

This summer being in Grant, I’ve learned more about wheat production. Wheat is not a big crop grown in central Nebraska, so getting the chance to see it up close out west is a very different and great experience. Some other things I have done so far are talking to farmers about their crops, looking at different crop symptoms, and looking into what some of our solutions for issues would be. I have also delivered trailers and chemicals out to our growers.

This summer, I hope to get a better look at the sales side of things by building more relationships with growers and learning more about the products that we supply and sell. So far, my time at Grant has been an awesome experience, and I hope to keep learning throughout the rest of the summer.
